Taiki is one of the twelve Kirin ( Japanese unicorns that can take human form ) in the land of Twelve Kingdoms. In this world each of them is born for a country, and it's their task to pick a ruler for their land and make certain that they rule justly and fairly. This is because if the ruler turns evil and corrupt the country itself will suffer. It will experience famine, be over run by demons, and the Kirin itself will suffer and die. The Kirin are around to give advice to their emperors, protect them with the demons under their control, and are intensely loyal to their masters and will do anything their told.
Taiki is the sole black Kirin ( the rest are white ) and also the youngest. He is innocent, gentle and kind. While his form is usually that of a young boy when he's intimidated or scared his form grows older. Under his control are three demons; a half woman/half bird, a giant wolf beast and a monstrous many eyed/many legged demon. He is the Kirin of the country of Tai and had yet to find an Emperor for his country.
